SANTA CLARITA
COMMUNITIES
The
Santa Clarita Valley has seven distinct communities. Each makes a
special contribution to the Valley's vitality and unique
rural-urban flavor.
THE CITY OF SANTA
CLARITA
The city of Santa Clarita was incorporated December 15, 1987 with
a population of 147,228 and a land area of 40 square miles, making
the largest incorporation in the history of the state. The City is
comprised of the following communities:
VALENCIA
This master-planned community was developed by The Newhall Land
& Farming Company. The area is linked by a Spanish-style paseo
system that provides easy access between homes, schools, parks and
shops.
CANYON COUNTRY
With more than 30,000 residents, Canyon Country is the most
populous community in the City of Santa Clarita. It has an
industrial hub, several neighborhood shopping plazas, and
residents who enjoy plenty of open spaces.
NEWHALL
Today's Valley can trace its origins to this community, which took
hold in 1876 along a key rail line, becoming home to miners and
oil workers. A rough
Old West town back then, Newhall today is an elegant residential
area with hundreds of shops and restaurants-along with The
Master's College, the Disney Movie Ranch, Gene Autry's Melody
Ranch, a park and nature center, and silent film star William S.
Hart's former ranch, now a museum drawing thousands of visitors
annually.
SAUGUS
(Named for Saugus, Massachusetts, the birthplace of Henry Mayo
Newhall)
This community owes its existence to the Southern Pacific Railroad
Line and is still the home of an original station. New residential
centers, established neighborhoods, commercial and retail centers
create a self-sufficient community.
STEVENSON RANCH
This is a large 4000 acre master-planned community on our city's
West side of the 5 freeway. The Valencia Marketplace and Stevenson
Ranch Shopping Center are the newest highlight of this fast
growing and desirable community.
NORTHBRIDGE/NORTHPARK
The Northern extension of Valencia is considered one of our city's
most beautifully planned communities. The unique paseo system,
wonderful schools, and convenient shopping makes this neighborhood
complete.
BRIDGEPORT
A lake village that includes a 15-acre lake, 7000 square foot Lake
Club, elementary school, parks and playing field, paseos and river
trails. Features Cape Cod architecture.
WESTRIDGE
The Valley's newest master-planned community features a variety of
stylized living-whether you're looking for a townhome to a home
custom built just for you, Westridge will provide its residents
with a lifestyle of uncompromising quality. Add to all of this a
championship golf course and you'll have everything you need!
TESORO DEL VALLE
In the hills high above the Santa Clarita Valley is the newest,
private masterplanned community conceived in the spirit of Old
California. Created to blend perfectly with the essence of its
storied history as well as take full advantage of breathtaking
views of the surrounding hills and the valley below, Tesoro del
Valle presents residents with the opportunity to have it all in a
spectacular setting. The community consists of ten villages and
1,800 homesites. A private recreation center, with Olympic-sized
pool, resort pool and spa, tennis courts, basketball court, sand
volleyball court, ball field, and tot lot, is a part of the
incredible quality of life residents will find at Tesoro del
Valle. Residents also enjoy an on-site elementary school, nearby
hiking and equestrian trails, and community soccer fields.
Convenient to area amenities along with an air of casual elegance,
Tesoro del Valle will offer homebuyers an opportunity to connect
to the past and move forward toward a beautiful future.
SURROUNDING
VALLEY COMMUNITIES
AGUA DULCE
With a name meaning "sweet water" in Spanish, Agua Dulce
is the site of Vasquez
Rocks County Park, where countless film and television
companies have shot everything from westerns to Star Trek
episodes. This town has retained a true rural atmosphere. it is an
equestrian community with many unpaved roads, large acreage homes,
and working ranches. It also has a small public airport.
CASTAIC
Thanks to its large, scenic lake, Castaic is the Valley's major
recreation area, popular for swimming, sailing, fishing, boating
and water-skiing. This lake is also the terminus for the
California Water Project. Because of its proximity to the San
Joaquin Valley, this community is also a connecting point in the
North-South trucking network.
VAL VERDE
Small and thriving, Val Verde boasts its own park, clubhouse,
tennis courts and Olympic size swimming pool. It is a historical
resort surrounded by hills, and has sustained its rural ambience.
